i simply can't have acurate colors on the preview vs. output. after around 50 hours trying to fix it, i gave up, i'm scanning posivite and using negative lab pro.

So annoying. The dialogue is like someone imitating a robot in the 1970s. Could not concentrate as it was so annoying. All in all Silverfast and Optima have produced a non customer friendly product. Havent got the time to go through all the rediculous unnecessary registration and log in processes. Sending straight back.

I've just bought the Silverfast 9. Email received with the serial. There is no way to input the license serial into the software and on Silverfast account there is not the new license. What is it?!?!? That's incredible.

There is not the option for input the serial number in the demo version!!! Is it a Joke this video?!?!?

I'm running SF 8.0 on my Epson Perfection 3200 Photo a graphic artist sold me. It won't allow any more upgrades for my Mac OS High Sierra. But I get nice scans from SF8.

I am still trying to understand ... do you need to Prescan the tray first? How to apply auto or ISRD to all slides before scanning ? I know how to use the find frames and it works quite well .. Thanks for any help , from ANYONE ! Peace !!

When I open my scanned film negatives they always open as "positive" in the VLT (so I see them as negative in my film strip , not positive as in this video) - I use ctrl+3 to change to negative and the negafix dialogue. However, I have to click and open each file one by one to change them. How can I batch process my files and convert them to positives - or make sure they all open them as "negatives" (and thus show up as positives) in your program already already when I put them into the job manager. Its taking forever to have open click each and every file to change it to a positive. Using HDRi 9 studio.

Watch out for problems with some automatic processes when using the previews. Specifically, automatic black point and white point are most obviously affected. Here is the problem. Silverfast scans the previews at whatever draft resolution you choose. 1x up to 8x. Then it uses that preview scan to find the black point, white point, and a lot of other automatic information. BUT it scales that preview up to a resolution that you can see as the zoomed in preview. And it applies filtering to that scaled up image. With the result that if bright and dark areas are right next to each other in the image, the filtering creates black and white artifacts. The black artifacts will very likely be darker than the actual darkest areas of the image, so the automatic black point selects those, instead of the correct black area. It can happen similarly with the white areas. These artifacts are due to the filtering being applied to the scaled up image. The characteristics and consequences of these filters and the artifacts they can produce are well known for many decades. And there are alternative filters that will not produce those artifact problems. Or what they should do is sample from the original prescan image, not a blown up version. The sample points can be easily mapped from one size of image to another.

What we really need is a full manual for Silverfast 9. The last version of Silverfast that had a full detailed manual was v6. 18 years ago. So much has changed since then, that it is of almost no use with Silverfast 9. Features have been added, features have been removed or changed beyond all recognition. The documentation for Silverfast 9 is entirely of the quick start variety. Its useless for finding out how most of the Silverfast 9 features work. I've pointed this out to Silverfast support, a number of times over the last few years, but nothing has changed. And support seem aggressively un-interested.

So... You decided to only put this feature in your Archive Suite? Not Studio? Holy cow. Silverfast Studio could really benefit from this. But you've artificially kept it ONLY in your most expensive suite? I have no words. It seems that its not only big software companies that screw over the consumer

Hallo Ich verwende den Scanner V850pro und SilverFast Version 9.2.4 Es ist gleich ob ich Dia oder Negative scann. Der Scanner scannt jedes Bild einzeln. es erscheint nicht das Express-Symbol.

I have used SilverFast for 4 years. It's hands down the kludgiest software ever written and in my opinion a waste of time trying to learn. Think I am wrong? Sign on the their bulletin board and look at all of the problems people are having and the poor quality of the answers.

I use a Plustek 8200i with SilverFast 9 for scanning negatives with great results. However, I am trying to scan my first roll of mounted slides (Ektachrome E100) and the scans are not sharp. I can tell by looking at the slides that the shots are in focus and am wondering what I'm doing wrong. I'm using the same resolution settings as I do with negatives, which all scan sharp. I look forward to your thoughts.

They'll need to redesign a new target because this one is completely missing the purple-blue and the yellow-green gamut, that is like 1/4 of the available color. I was scanning a color chart and all the color that sits on these gamut are completely wrong. I'm so disappointed.

Very interesting. Would it be possible that over time this Silver Fast program could perform the same lint and vertical stripe cleaning processes on mp4 videos, since these have already been previously scanned and subsequently destroyed when converted to mp4 videos? Thank you!

Revolutionär finde ich diese Methode nicht! Ich bin wie selbstverständlich davon ausgegangen, dass sie Software so funktioniert, wie beim Express Modus demonstriert. Wieso die bisherige Software so umständlich programmiert wurde, ist mir schleierhaft!

Schade, dass der Film so kurz ist und da abbricht, wo es interessant wird. Welche Bittiefe verwende ich für ein Dia? Was ist ein sinnvoller Kompromiss zwischen bzgl. Scanzeit und Speichergröße, wenn ein Bildschirm das Ausgabegerät ist usw. 😢

Ehrlich gesagt bin in geschockt zu hören, dass die Software früher Bild für Bild gescannt hat und nicht gleich die Methode zur Anwendung kam, die jetzt bei der Express-Version beworben wird, nämlich das Scannen von ganzen Zeilen! Warum denn einfach, wenn es auch umständlich geht! Da freue ich mich, dass ich jetzt als Neueinsteiger diese sinnvolle Funktion nutzen kann! Bei ca. 500 zu scannenden Dias spare ich sehr viele Stunden!😊

Hi, when I make 64Bit HDRi Raw batch scans with ExpressScan, something often goes wrong with iSRD. I think the channel has been rotated 90 degrees (?) and squashed compressed. In any case, it's no longer matching the "dust and scratches" of the original. I can't open the tif files in photoshop with the infrared channel visible. Is there a way to fix the infrared info or do a rescan of all the images that are bad? Is there a plugin or way to open the raw files and rotate in photoshop to make the infrared channel landscape again instead of portrait, un-squashing it will probably degrade the information in the channel?
